Full truckload versus LTL freight
LTL freight uses shared trailer space. Full truckload reserves the trailer for the load; it does not mean every inch must be filled. A truckload quote can be worth comparing as order volume grows, but it is not automatically the lowest-cost choice.
The decision depends on pallet footprint, packed height, total weight, destination and unloading access. Count the pallet base and packaging when describing a load. A pallet count alone does not tell you how much trailer space or weight capacity an order needs.
How live truckload rates work at Great Buy
Truckload options appear for eligible larger carts when a supported provider returns a rate. Our freight quoting includes Schneider FreightPower for truckload, with Priority1 truckload support when enabled.
The provider sourcing the rate may differ from the carrier hauling the load. Read the actual quote for the carrier, service and price. Not every provider or shipping mode is available for every order. If no truckload option appears, contact our team to review the shipment rather than assuming parcel or LTL is the only possibility.
Confirm unloading access before ordering
Have a receiving plan for the equipment quoted. Tell our team about your dock, forklift, delivery hours and any site restrictions before booking. Great Buy’s online truckload quoting is intended for eligible non-residential deliveries; residential needs should be discussed with the team.
Do not assume a standard truckload quote includes a liftgate, inside delivery or special handling. Ask about required services and confirm what is included. Delivery timing and availability must be checked for the actual shipment.
Compare the total delivered cost
Look at merchandise plus freight across all units, and consider whether you have enough receiving space and storage for the purchase. Larger loads may require more than one truck. For small item quantities, you can also buy a single case pack and compare parcel shipping.
